The Chicago Theatre
The Chicago Theatre first opened its doors to the public on October 26, 1921. Large and lavish, and the first of its kind in the U.S., the Chicago Theatre paved the way for movie palaces of the future.
The Chicago Theatre has been referred to as "the wonder theatre of the world," which should come as no surprise when you consider the venue's elegant lobby, majestic staircase and ornate auditorium with murals painted both above the stage and on the ceiling.
However, the Chicago Theatre isn't just for show. Over the years, the Chicago theatre has played host to many of the biggest bames in entertainment, from a wide variety of genres. Kathy Griffin, Dolly Parton, Kelly Clarkson, Prince, Robin Williams, Mariah Carey, Anthony Bourdain and Norah Jones are just a few of those featured on the Chicago Theatre calendar in the past.
