"Let's Remember Riverview"
It has been 50 years since the closing of Chicago’s iconic Riverview Park. Celebrating the golden anniversary of the closing season of Riverview "Let's Remember Riverview" will be held at Links Hall 3111 N. Western Avenue. Chicago, IL 60618 (one block from the former location of Riverview Park) Sunday, June, 25th 2017 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. Keynote speakers will include author’s of “Laugh Your Troubles Away - The Complete History of Riverview Park” by Riverview historians Derek Gee and Ralph Lopez, featuring a slide and powerpoint presentation on Riverview history, and film maker Phil Ranstrom creator of the film “I Remember Riverview” for Chicago’s WTTW Image Union. DJ Douglas Freedman and swing dancers from the Killer Diller Record Hop will be spinning records from the 50’s and 60’s, and live music from folk singer Jim Polaski . There will be Riverview memorabilia on display, including a special presentation by master miniature craftsman Jerry Kasper of his “Shoot The Chutes” display, and Riverview art and photographs from John and Tim Solarz of the Spacetaste Gallery in Elgin, IL. Select items will be available for purchase. The event will also feature a raffle, appetizers, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages from the Constellation bar, and culminating in a special tour along the beautiful North Branch Riverwalk to view the remnants of the Riverview Park area as it exists today! A portion of the proceeds will be donated to “Together We Rise” a US 501c3 charitable organization, to help kids in Foster Care.
